While it isn’t officially stated by BDS, it’s believed that one of the target goals is delegitimizing the State of Israel. State Representative Phil King (R-Weatherford), is the sponsor of House Bill 89, while State Senator Brandon Creighton (R-Conroe) is sponsoring Senate Bill 29. To reach more about the bill, go hereHere are the members of this committee – please call their offices and tell them to vote for SB 29 and stand for Israel and the Jewish people.

Senator Paul Bettencourt also did a fabulous job defending truth this last week. His number is 512-463-0107. Please call him and thank him as well. You can see an video of them in action here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTeZiVIu2QM

Be sure and call the committee members as well and ask for a timely vote in favor of SB 2. Here is the link to all of the committee members. Help us by calling them and encouraging this important property tax reform effort.

Texas Eagle Forum has been hard at work this week – promoting conservative values and working with the State Legislature on bills that make a difference for Texas families.

Here is our Top 5 for this week:

#1
Keep Praying!  Most likely you have heard about the vicious attacks against our President and Vice President. Last Friday, witches around the country “cast spells” upon them at midnight and the Christian community continues to rise up to pray and cover them. We cannot stop praying for our leaders. Here is the article by the New York Post on this evil attack on our leaders. President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are not letting up and they unveiled the plan a little more this week at CPAC – the incredible speech by Vice President Mike Pence is here. We encourage you to get your news directly from the main sources of information, not from just listening to the newscasters talking points. Let’s continue to pray!

The Top 5 – February 20, 2017

So much has happened this last week, the Texas Freedom Caucus was formed in the Texas House which will hopefully increase our “grassroots voice” on the issues that we care about and the Christian community came together with one voice to stand up for religious freedom for everyone. President Trayce Bradford was so blessed to be able to stand with our fellow warriors to defend liberty and religious freedom here in Texas.

Reminder as well to continue to stand for LIFE in the womb. Trayce testified this last week in support of SB 415 to ban the performance of dismemberment abortions. Let’s continue to pray for all of these important bills working their way through the legislature right now.

We have much to do this week, so here is our TOP 5 for this week. Reminder as well to continue to stand for LIFE.

#1
Please sign up to follow us on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram We are still building up our social media following but it is a great way to get out information fast. Invite people to LIKE our page on Facebook or retweet something on Twitter. We are posting items just on social media like this graphic from State Representative Matt Rinaldi from Friday. We need a wave of voices and footsteps to keep this movement building and to support all the good that is being done.  It can get easy to see the negative but we do have patriots working hard this session and they need prayers and action – in person and online.

#2 Speaking of Matt Rinaldi – we are 100% behind his HB 421 Church Security Bill (Relating to the exemption from application of the Private Security Act of certain persons who provide security services on a volunteer basis at a place of religious worship) which has been sent to the Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee. Please call your House Member and ask them to support this bill and please call the Members on the Committee as well.

#3 Please call your State Senators in support of Senator Bob Hall’s SB 83 bill to protect our grid – (Relating to protection of energy critical infrastructure from electromagnetic, geomagnetic, terrorist, and cyber-attack threats.) Currently the bill is in the Business and Commerce committee and a hearing request has been put in. Reminder that when you call your representatives or any representatives to be cordial and kind and to give the staffer just a minute or so of why you support a bill. It can be as simple as saying “I support SB 83 to protect our energy grid. Thank you.” Be prepared to give your address, phone number, and email to the staffer.

#4 On Wednesdays – we are continuing to put out blog posts from some amazing women highlighting their thoughts on our culture and what it means to be a woman here in America currently. This last Wednesday, we featured a post from our intern Bethany Jarrell. Check it out. You can also sort blog posts by topics/tags anytime – check out everything we have written by our guest writers.

#5 Read Our Blog – So much is going on in the Texas House and our liberty-minded friends have banded together to create the Texas Freedom Caucus. Read about it on our blog and then like them on Facebook.

You love what you are reading? Would you consider setting up a re-occurring monthly contribution to our cause?

Remember Texas Faith and Family Day on March 16th – register here: www.texasfaithandfamily.com. We need as many EAGLES as we can to come out and help!

Also SAVE THE DATE for our own Texas Eagle Forum Family Fun Night in Dripping Springs, TX on Wednesday night, April 12th. All the details will be sent out sometime this week.

Texas Eagle Forum is Excited to Partner with the New Texas Freedom Caucus in the Texas House.

Yesterday, it was announced that the Texas Freedom Caucus was launched in the Texas House of Representatives. Texas Eagle Forum is ecstatic about working with these lawmakers to help “amplify the voice of liberty-minded grassroots Texans”. Here is their announcement from February 14, 2017. – President Trayce Bradford

Freedom Caucus Formed in the Texas House to Empower Grassroots Texans

The Texas Freedom Caucus was launched today in the Texas House of Representatives.  The Texas Freedom Caucus’ mission is to amplify the voice of liberty-minded grassroots Texans who want bold action to protect life, strengthen families, defend the bill of rights, restrain government and revitalize personal and economic freedoms in Texas.

The Texas Freedom Caucus (TFC) will be focused on first principles that are the hallmark of liberty-minded Texans.  The policies supported by the TFC will be developed thru collaboration with grassroots leaders to identify priorities that are often dismissed in Austin.

“Go five blocks in any direction from the Texas Capitol, and you will see what interests are hard wired into the Austin establishment,” Caucus Chairman Rep. Matt Schaefer (Tyler) said. “The mission of the Texas Freedom Caucus will be to hard wire liberty-minded grassroots into policy making in Austin.”

The TFC will engage grassroots Texans on matters before session, during session, and long after session when policies are implemented at the agency level. The caucus is committed to restoring first principles – the right to life, liberty and property that are at the core of the freedom of America and the exceptionalism of Texas. The caucus will outline a set of legislative priorities after it holds a series of discussions with grassroots representatives from all across Texas. Thereafter, the TFC will support or oppose legislation in accordance with those principles.

“We don’t want our priorities to be determined from Austin down, but from the grassroots up. That includes taking things like the Texas Republican Party platform seriously,” said Schaefer. “There are thousands of people too busy working and raising their families to embed themselves in the legislative process. Their voices matter too, and we want to make sure they are heard, and their efforts are multiplied.”

The Texas Freedom Caucus will share many policy goals with other existing conservative organizations and caucuses, and it will buttress and complement rather than compete with those groups.  The TFC will distinguish itself by providing a specific focal point for grassroots Texans interested in conservative policy-making in Austin.

The Vice Chair of the Caucus will be Rep. Bill Zedler (Arlington). The Policy Director will be Rep. Jeff Leach (Plano), caucus Grassroots Liaison will be Rep. Matt Shaheen (Plano) and the Secretary-Treasurer will be Rep. Tony Tinderholt (Arlington). Other members include representatives Kyle Biedermann (New Braunfels), Briscoe Cain (Houston), Matt Krause (Fort Worth), Mike Lang (Granbury), Rep. Matt Rinaldi (Irving), Jonathan Stickland (Bedford) and Valoree Swanson (Spring).

James Bernsen will serve as Executive Director for the Texas Freedom Caucus.

The Top 5 – February 13, 2017

What we are doing week after week is so important for our state and the cause of freedom. We prayed for the Texas House to FINALLY get committee assignments to start the business of the people and they finally did – a little late but they are now getting to work.

We are creating these TOP 5 each week so you can share them on social media to others. Let’s try to get the TOP 5 out to your TOP 5 civic minded friends. Encourage them to sign up for our email list and stay informed. We are making a difference in the state of Texas and beyond. Let’s keep up the good work!

Here is our TOP 5 for this week.

#1 Adopt a Committee and Pray – The Texas House released their committee assignments this week. Would you take a committee on the House or Senate side and pray for the work that committee, the Chairmen, and the Members of that committee? Pick one that you are interested in and would like to follow the bills coming through it. Here are the Texas House Committee Assignments for download.  Also here is the list of the Texas Senate Committee Assignments. Let’s pick one and pray for our leaders.

#2 Call the White House and ask President Trump to keep up his fight for Religious Liberty – The Left is calling the White House and we need to keep calling as well to ask President Trump to continue to stand up for religious liberties. At the National Prayer Breakfast last week – he highlighted that he wanted to safeguard religious liberty with a promise to “get rid of and totally destroy the Johnson Amendment,” a 1954 law that bars churches and other tax-exempt organizations from endorsing political candidates. You can read all about the National Prayer Breakfast here from the Baptist Press and then call the White House with a quick reminder to protect religious freedom at 202-456-1414.

#3 Read about a few Bills that we are Following – We encourage you to read about a few of the bills that we are following. Here are just a few on the Senate side.
Senate Bill 242 (Right to Know) – Relating to the right of the child’s parent to public school records and information concerning the child. View all actions
Senate Bill 252 (Prohibit Investments in Iran, Sudan, and other Terror sponsoring states) – Relating to prohibiting government contracts with a company doing business with Iran, Sudan, or a foreign terrorist organization. View all actions
Senate Bill 253 (Divestment in Sudan, Iran, and other state sponsored terror entities) – Relating to investment prohibitions and divestment requirements for certain investments of public money. View all actions
Senate Bill 256 (Confidentiality of Human Trafficked and/or abuse victims) – Relating to the confidentiality of home address information of certain victims of family violence, sexual assault, stalking, or trafficking of persons. View all actions

#4 Let’s thank the Texas Senate and Senator Van Taylor for his ethics reform bill – Senator Van Taylor has been working diligently on SB 14 which will change the way the Texas Legislature does business – making everything more transparent and shedding more light on the private dealings of elected officials. Read about the first bill that passed the Texas Senate here and then call your State Senators’ office and also call Senator Van Taylor’s office thanking him for his strong stand and commitment to transparency and ethics. Phone numbers are here. Also encourage your House Members to now pass a similar bill and stand up for transparency.

#5 MOSTLY FALSE – Texas Associations Numbers Concerning the Effects of the Bathroom Bill – This just came out this week from Politifact Texas and was touted by our Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick. The study by the TBA said in late 2016 that the bathroom law to protect our women and children would cost Texas $8.5 billion in GDP and up to 185,000 jobs. Politifact Texas says that is MOSTLY FALSE and you are read their report here. We have been very clear where we stand on this issue and have a full blog post on it from January 3rd – It’s Time to Push Back, Texas. Continue to get the facts and keep fighting for the truth.

– You love what you are reading? Help us by donating to build a grassroots army of people who care about our state and our nation. We will be having some Texas Eagle Forum event coming up soon that you can help us with and remember to come to the Texas Faith and Family Day on March 16th – register here: texasfaithandfamily.com

The Top 5 – February 6, 2017

We love that people are already talking about our TOP 5 list each week. You are important and your voice is important. Thank you for sharing and getting out the word. Politics is not a dirty word and getting involved is a must. Our main goal here at Texas Eagle Forum is to empower, train, and educate the people in our communities who care about the issues that we care about. Help us do that by sharing our emails or blog posts with your friends and family.

Here are our TOP 5 for this week.

#1
Sanctuary City Ban Hearing (Get Informed) – In the Governor’s State of the State address, he threw his voice behind the ban on sanctuary cities in the State of Texas. Teresa Beckmeyer wrote a great article on the subject here on the Lone Star Voice and we want to encourage you to read it and call your legislators on this important piece of legislation.

#2 Be a Point Person in your Senate District – We are continuing to look for people in each Texas Senate District to be our point people to get information out within their areas. Most districts are covered but we need more active volunteers. We would love to have you be an active part of Texas Eagle Forum. If this is something that appeals to you- please email Trayce Bradford at trayce.bradford@gmail.com and she will get you all the information.

#3 Pray for the HOUSE – The Texas House is continuing to be a problem child with no committee assignments out yet – which will shorten the time that the House can pass bills. Let’s pray that the House leadership gets organizational items settled so that they can get about the work of the people of Texas.

#4 Let’s stand with Israel against the BDS movement here in Texas – Senator Brandon Creighton and Representative Phil King are carrying legislation HB 89 & SB 134 combating the anti-Semitic Boycott Divestment & Sanctions movement. The Jewish community is organizing a day in Austin on Thursday, supporting this legislation. Let’s join together with them and stand for Israel. If you can come to Austin – please email aeddy@jfgd.org and let her know you are with Texas Eagle Forum.

#5
Women Wednesdays – We are posting articles by amazing WOMEN on Wednesdays on our blog. This last week we heard from Andrea Taylor, President of im2more with How Are You Not for Women? Check it out and share with your friends. Conservative women ARE for women!

The Top 5 – January 30, 2017

Last week we started our Top 5 – a way to keep you informed on a weekly basis during the Texas legislative session We want you to know what is going on, what we are working on, and how you can be involved. We are all so busy – we get that, so we are trying to make it easier for you to think about engaging in the political process. We don’t have to be political experts to be concerned citizens. We just have to be willing to learn and willing to engage. Here is our TOP 5 for this week.

#1 Pray with us daily – Set your alarm on your phone with us at 7 pm each evening for the month of February and spend just ONE MINUTE in prayer for your state legislators, our Members of Congress, and our new President and Vice President. Michele Bachmann said this week in a speech that we heard that the most critical action that we could take is to step up our prayer lives and be in serious intercession for our leaders! We couldn’t agree more.

#2 We would like to know if you are planning to attend the TEXAS FAITH AND FAMILY DAY down in Austin on March 16th and to find out which legislation you would like to follow or learn about. Would you be willing to talk to legislators about one of these topics – such as protecting our electric grid in Texas, the dismemberment abortion ban, the Texas privacy act and a bill on abortion coercion? #4 The U.S. Senate Health Education Labor and Pensions Committee is voting this Tuesday, January 31st at 10 am on the nomination of Betsy DeVos to serve as Secretary of Education. There have been a number of disconcerting reports about her stance on issues especially in the areas of Common Core and Student Data Mining. Dr. Karen R Effrem, MD – President of Education LIberty Watch gives a run down on those concerns about Mrs. DeVos. You can read some of the articles at http://edlibertywatch.org. Please make the HELP Committee and your own Senator aware of this concerning information and urge a NO vote! Here are the Members on that committee. The Top 5 – January 23, 2017

Our desire is to keep you informed during this legislative session on a weekly basis. We want you to know what is going on, what we are working on, and how you can be involved. Many people don’t get involved with politics because they don’t know what to do – the world of politics seem so massive and big. “Where do we start?”, they ask. We want to attempt to break it down for each of us at the beginning of each week and we are going to call this the TOP 5. This is the top 5 ways you and your friends can be involved this week in the work of Texas Eagle Forum and make an impact on your state.

#1 Now that our new President Donald J. Trump and our new Vice President Mike Pence has been sworn in along with our State Legislature the week before – keep praying for our leaders. As Minister Franklin Graham highlighted in his inaugural prayer- he quoted 1 Timothy 2 – “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—  for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people.”

#2 Plan to attend and bring a group to join us for the TEXAS FAITH AND FAMILY DAY down in Austin on March 16th. Join us for a day where we make a difference together in Austin. We will share information about the legislation currently on the table during the 85th Texas Legislative Session important to our family values community. Come share your thoughts and hearts with your elected officials as we hit offices together. We would love to you to bring a car of 4 people or a bus load of people. Whatever you can do to bring your family and friends down to participate in this incredible day is so important. We want TEF to be well represented in Austin that day. We are even having a dinner the night before along with our conservative partners. Check out all of the details here: http://texasfaithandfamily.com/

#3 Do you know who your legislators are? Know who your State Senator and State Representative are and know their office numbers. Go to www.legis.state.tx.us and on the right hand side – put in your address where it says “Who Represents Me?” Once you have the information of who your legislators are, print off that page and put the numbers in your cellphone or on your refrigerator. You will need them.

#4 Go to www.legis.state.tx.us and sign up to follow the top bills that interest you whether that is on education, life, border security, etc. When you do that you will know where they are in the process and can reach out to your legislators. Create a Login so that you can follow bills. After you have an account – go to “Search Legislation” on the home page. When you see a bill you want to follow, click on it and then click “Add to Alert List” so that you get alerts when something changes on this bill. You can read about our whole legislative agenda for the 2017 85th Session here on our blog. We would love for you to participate and help us communicate the value of these bills to our state legislators.

#5 Check out the Eagle Forum Report – Successor to the Phyllis Schlafly Report. It is a great source of information.

– Please share this blog with your social media fans and community.

Conservative agenda for the 2017 85th Session of the Texas Legislature

Here are the groups within the State of Texas that have committed to join together on this conservative agenda for the Texas Legislature – Concerned Women for America, Conservative Republicans of Texas, Direct Action Texas, Empower Texans, Grassroots America We the People, NE Tarrant County Tea Party, Texas Eagle Forum, Texas Home School Coalition Association, Texas Right to Life, and Texas Values Action.

The majority of elected state legislators believes in and has committed to the principles of limited government, ethical standards, individual liberty, economic freedom, and transparent, high-quality, efficient, and effective services for taxpayers. With a majority-Republican legislature and all-Republican statewide leadership, the success of the 85th Session of the Texas Legislature is dependent on the passage of ALL the following protections for all Texans—born and unborn.  (Most of these measures are specified in the 2016 party platform of the Republican Party of Texas.)

First Amendment Rights: Definitively protect the religious liberties of individuals, government employees, counselors, business owners (including, but not limited to, faith-based care facilities), and adoption agencies; and protect and preserve First Amendment rights, including freedom of speech (including political speech), freedom of assembly, freedom of association, and the requisite due process for all who exercise these constitutional rights (SB 14, SB 107).
