The Top 5 – March 6, 2017

We are getting into the heart of the legislative session now – bills are getting co-sponsors and the debates are getting more heated. It is so important that we stay educated on the issues and make a difference where we can. That is why Texas Eagle Forum is here – to unite us so we can make a difference.

Our Top 5 each week are ACTION items – please read them and respond. If we all make phone calls and take action, we can make a great impact in this state.

Here is our Top 5 for this week:

#1 SB 6 – The Texas Privacy Act is one that we are championing and will continue to speak about. The hearing is Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. in State Affairs at the Texas Senate. We will be testifying. Senator Kolkhorst is the author in the senate of SB 6. You can read her thoughts on the bill here on her Facebook page.

Please call, testify, and support SB 6. Call the committee members of State Affairs and your own Senator. Please be respectful and concise when you call. They are going to be flooded with calls that day, so be one they remember for being courteous and credible. For more details on SB 6 – check out the list here by Texas Values.

#2 HB 421 authored by Rep. Matt Rinaldi – The Church Security bill has a hearing at 8:00 a.m, Tuesday March 7th as well in the Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee. We will be supporting this bill as well. This bill is relating to the exemption from the application of the Private Security Act of certain persons who provide security services on a volunteer basis at a place of worship. Please call your Representative and tell them to please support of HB 421.

#3 We are so thankful that Senator Perry’s Dismemberment Abortion Ban SB 415 did pass out of committee. Please contact your State Representative to support the companion bill in the House authored by Rep. Stephanie Klick – HB 844. Here is the text of this bill.

#4 Texas Eagle Forum Family Fun Night (April 12th) with Brad Stine & Crystal Yates – Come join us for a family fun night in the Austin hill country with Texas Eagle Forum on Wednesday night – April 12th. Only 30-40 minutes from Austin – Wanderin’ Star Farms is a fun get away from the hustle and bustle of Austin. Hosted by President Trayce Bradford – this night will be inspirational featuring musical guest Crystal Yates and her husband Will (Christian and Country Music songwriters and artists) along with Brad Stine – one of the best Christian comedians in the nation. We will have free coffee and desserts before and during the show.
